Sir Jim Ratcliffe has already made his feelings clear on Mauricio Pochettino amid Man Utd links

Sir Jim Ratcliffe has already made his feelings clear on Mauricio Pochettino amid Man Utd links

Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Mauricio Pochettino have history.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe has already shown exactly how he feels about Mauricio Pochettino as a manager, as Chelsea confirmed the 52-year-old has left the club after just one season.

Pochettino had a mixed time in charge at Stamford Bridge but the club seemed to have turned a corner as they escaped the bottom half of the table and secured a top-six finish.

The Argentine released the following statement to Chelsea fans after the news of his departure: "Thank you to the Chelsea ownership group and Sporting Directors for the opportunity to be part of this football club's history.

"The Club is now well positioned to keep moving forward in the Premier League and Europe in the years to come."

Pochettino leaving may have a considerable knock-on effect, with the Argentine now the odds-on favourite to replace Erik ten Hag at Man United according to Sky Bet.

Ten Hag is under considerable pressure at Old Trafford as he has guided the club to their worst-ever finish in Premier League history with an eighth-placed finish.

United's only hope of Europe now lies in the FA Cup final where they must beat Manchester City to earn a place in the Europa League.

Pochettino's new availability might prick the interests of Sir Jim Ratcliffe, who has already tried to hire the former Spurs and PSG manager.

Back in 2022, ESPN reported that Ratcliffe was doing his best to try and convince Pochettino to take on the Nice job.

The British billionaire was willing to break the bank to meet his demands, so it seems highly likely Pochettino would be near the top of Ratcliffe's shopping list if Ten Hag does leave the club.

This isn't the first time Pochettino has been linked to Old Trafford, as he was a leading candidate to take over before the original appointment of Ten Hag.
