Man Utd fans spot Sir Alex Ferguson's reaction to Antony mistake during Nottingham Forest clash

Sir Alex Ferguson was in attendance as Manchester United beat Nottingham Forest in the FA Cup.

Manchester United fans spotted Sir Alex Ferguson’s reaction to a mistake made by Antony during the FA Cup tie against Nottingham Forest.

On Wednesday night, United sealed their passage to the quarter-final of the FA Cup thanks to a last-gasp winner scored by Casemiro.

The match itself was a tight contest as both teams had chances to break the deadlock.

Brazilian winger Antony was given a chance to prove himself after being named in the starting XI by manager Erik ten Hag.

However, the Brazilian winger failed to make an impact and was taken off in the 73rd minute.

During the first half, United captain Bruno Fernandes attempted to pick out Antony with a cross-field pass. However, the winger failed to get on the end of it. The camera then cut to Ferguson, who was sat alongside David Gill and Sir Dave Brailsford.

Reacting on social media, fans noticed that Ferguson was left unimpressed by Antony’s failure to reach the pass.

One said: “Bruno tried a diagonal to Antony and then it cut to Fergie, Gill and Brailsford all shaking their heads.”

Another tweeted: “Even Ferguson is tired of Antony’s nonsense.”

A third fan added: “Even Ferguson is tired of Antony’s crap.”

Someone else wrote: “Ferguson doesn’t look happy with Antony after Bruno’s pass lol.”

Since moving to United from Dutch side Ajax for a reported fee of £86 million in 2022, Antony has largely been a disappointment.

The 24-year-old has only scored nine goals in 71 appearances across all competitions.

Speaking recently about Antony, United boss Ten Hag said: “Antony: I backed him for a long time. I know his abilities and he has great abilities. When he plays like I know from the past he is unstoppable, no defender can stop him because he's one of the quickest players in the first 10 yards.

“When he plays that game he will perform. I'm sure he will do for the future, I'm sure he is resilient, he is a character and he will fight back and I back him. He now has to wait for his chance and once he is there he has to pick up.”

United will be up against Liverpool in the next round of the FA Cup after Jurgen Klopp’s men dispatched Championship side Southampton 3-0 at Anfield.
