A video of Sporting CP fans reacting to Ruben Amorim taking his position on the touchline for the club's cup fixture has emerged and it speaks volumes.

Amorim is on the verge of becoming the next Manchester United manager following the dismissal of Erik ten Hag.

He has been sounded out, having previously attracted interest from Liverpool, Chelsea and West Ham United.

Sporting issued a public statement on Amorim's future amid interest from the Premier League giants.

That statement came ahead of the club's home quarter-final clash against Nacional on Tuesday night.

Sporting's cup fixture could be the 39-year-old's final game in charge of the club ahead of moving to Man United.

Ahead of kick-off, fans inside the Estadio Jose Alvalade showed their appreciation for their current boss, applauding his arrival on the touchline in a classy moment.

Amorim received a warm reception from the Sporting faithful as the young manager embraced his players before the game started.

He could be in the dugout for Man United when they resume their faltering league campaign on Sunday against Chelsea.

The Red Devils have a measly 11 points on the board, winning just won three league games this season.

They've already lost four league games, including last weekend's crushing 2-1 defeat at West Ham United.

Should Man United appoint Amorim, then he will be the club's youngest manager in Premier League history.

He made his name at Braga, impressing Sporting who appointed him as their manager in March 2020.

The Portuguese has guided the club to two league titles during his time at the Lisbon-based outfit.
