Manchester United rejected Ruben Amorim's preferred forward to sign Benjamin Sesko in a big-money transfer in the summer.
Man United backed Amorim in the summer before relieving him of his duties on Monday following their draw against Leeds United.
They splashed the cash to recruit new players for the 2025/26 season, including Matheus Cunha, who cost £62.5 million from Wolves, and Bryan Mbeumo, who cost £71 million from Brentford.
Not to mention the staggering £73.7 million capture of Sesko from RB Leipzig.

The Red Devils pipped Newcastle United to the transfer of the 22-year-old, who had attracted interest from Arsenal in previous transfer windows.
But Sesko has failed to live up to his hefty price tag, having scored a measly two goals in 17 appearances across all competitions.

Sesko led the line against Leeds United in Man United's 1-1 draw at Elland Road but has often made his appearances coming off the bench, including his side's big win against Liverpool at Anfield earlier in the campaign.

He drew another blank against Leeds, with Amorim losing his job following his explosive post-match press conference.
Before his dismissal, a report from talkSPORT emerged claiming Amorim would have preferred to sign Ollie Watkins over Sesko.

The Portuguese sided with Watkins given he is proven in the Premier League, having scored 81 goals for Aston Villa in England's top flight.
Watkins has been a consistent performer for Villa over the years and has scored in his last three games.
What has Ruben Amorim said about Benjamin Sesko?
Sesko has struggled to adapt to the Premier League since his move from Germany's Bundesliga.
He was unable to land on the score-sheet against Leeds, with Amorim insisting the Slovenian needs to improve in the 'last moments'.
Speaking after Man United's 1-1 draw against Leeds, Amorim explained: "To miss the chances he’s missing, he’s always there. That’s the first step. He’s aggressive when he has to fight for the first ball. If you miss chances, they will say the player did everything wrong, he just needs to score one. We need to have possession in this environment, if we’re trying to be the team we were in the past, with a lot of transition, we don’t want to be like that.
"We play better compared to last week. We were talking two seconds ago about the chances Ben had. He needs to score one and the weight will lift. Ben is completely different from Rasmus. He’s doing the right things. He needs to improve the last moments."
