Ruben Amorim and Marcus Rashford situation reaches shocking new low as Man Utd dilemma turns seriously ugly

A new update on the situation between Ruben Amorim and Marcus Rashford has arrived and there appears to be no way back.

Ruben Amorim and Marcus Rashford's situation at Manchester United has reached a new low, with there appearing to be no way to repair the fractured relationship between the two.

Rashford has not featured for United since a Europa League clash with Viktoria Plzen on 12 December and has been continually left out of matchday squads by Amorim.

His only appearance in the squad was for a 2-0 home defeat to Newcastle on 30 December but Rashford was never in contention to play the game and has remained completely frozen out.

In fact, Amorim gave a damning assessment of just how far Rashford is in the pecking order when he said that he would pick 63-year-old goalkeeping coach Jorge Vital over "a player that doesn’t give the maximum every day".

"If you do the maximum, if you do the right things - we can use every player," Amorim said when asked if there is a way for Rashford to return to the fold after the win over Fulham.

"You can see it today [Sunday] on the bench – we miss a little bit of pace to go, to change the game, to move some pieces, but I prefer [it] like that. I will put Vital [on the bench] before I put a player that doesn’t give the maximum every day so I will not change that.”

Although heavily linked with Barcelona, AC Milan and Borussia Dortmund, the 27-year-old is still training with the first-team.

However, it's emerged that Amorim and Rashford do not have any communication whatsoever. According to Jamie Jackson from The Guardian, the rapport between the two is non-existent as they are no longer on speaking terms.

There are no individual conversations between player and manager, with Rashford only spoken to when Amorim chooses to address the whole squad.

Rashford, who came through the ranks at United, had said he is ready for a "new challenge" but finding a club, even on loan, has proved difficult despite a host of conversations.

Time is running out and Rashford does have not have that many options on the table, with it still very much a possibility that he stays out of favour at United.

Rashford made his debut for United as an 18-year-old in 2016, scoring twice against FC Midtjylland and going on to find the net a further a 136 goals in 425 games.

He is contracted until to 2028, having signed a new deal in October 2023.
