Ruben Amorim has made a drastic decision on another one of his Manchester United players after being unconvinced by his performances.

Amorim has not been afraid to make big decisions during his tenure at United, most notably leaving Marcus Rashford out in the cold.

While Rashford is still training with the team, he has been involved in one matchday squad since being dropped in December and his last appearance was against Viktoria Plzen on 12 December.

Amorim brutally said he would put his goalkeeping coach Jorge Vital on the bench over "a player that doesn’t give the maximum every day" and it's now reported he is not on speaking terms with Rashford, who continues to be linked with a transfer.

However, Amorim is also said to have doubts about another United forward but for different reasons. According to a report from talkSPORT, misfiring striker Rasmus Hojlund has 'effectively been placed on trial' by United, who have now changed their stance on the Dane.

At one stage the former Atalanta man was deemed to be one of the players United would not be prepared to listen to offers for.

However the situation is much different now, with Amorim said to be unconvinced by Hojlund after his poor run of form.

United's No.9 has scored just two goals in the Premier League this term and has now gone eleven games without finding the net.

He draw his latest blank in the 1-0 win over Fulham on Sunday in a completely anonymous display.

The 21-year-old managed just one touch in the opposition box and failed to have a single shot, as well as completing 67 percent of his passes.

Hojlund was replaced by Joshua Zirkzee after 58 minutes and staggeringly, the £72 million signing has now failed to find the net in 37 of his 49 appearances in the Premier League since signing for United.

Napoli and Juventus are said to be keeping tabs on Hojlund and could bring him back to Italy.

"He wants it really hard and you can see it sometimes that without training, there is a disconnection," Amorim said after an abject performance from Hojlund.

"We can explain, but without training sometimes it goes away, when he should be near, sometimes he’s near when he should make a run," Amorim said.

"We don’t have time to make this connection, we don’t train these kinds of things, we just talk about these things. He has a lot to improve, like his team-mates."

United are back in action on Thursday when they travel to Steaua Bucharest in the Europa League, before hosting Crystal Palace on Sunday.
