Ruben Amorim has been tipped to bring one former Manchester United player back to the club in a shock move.

After signing last month, former Sporting manager Amorim joined United last week, replacing interim manager Ruud van Nistelrooy who stood in as United boss after Erik ten Hag was sacked last month.

Since joining, the new boss has made his mark with his intense training sessions and the promising comments made during his first interview with the club.

But now, Amorim could make a huge decision which would send shockwaves through the fanbase by bringing a former player back to United.

While speaking to Casino24.dk, ex-player Wes Brown suggested that Amorim should consider facilitating the return of Paul Pogba following the reduction of his suspension last month.

"Manchester United have a new manager, Paul Pogba needs a new club and anything can happen in football," Brown noted

"Paul is desperate to get back playing and if there was a transfer fee you couldn't see it, but as a free agent it's a different ball game completely.

"There will be money involved but it could be relatively risk-free and he'll be desperate to impress."

Pogba left United for the second time in 2022, spending a couple of turbulent years with Serie A club Juventus before being suspended from playing in September 2023 due to a failed drug test.

When the ban was initially handed to him in February 2024, it was set to last for four years, no doubt putting an end to his career, but in October it was reduced to just 18 months, meaning the Frenchman can return to play in March.

However, Pogba decided that when he did return to the pitch, it would not be with Juventus as he announced last week that both he and the Italian club had mutually agreed to terminate his contract early, leaving him as a free agent.

Announcing the decision in an official statement, Pogba wrote: "My time at Juventus has come to an end.

"It has been a privilege to pull on the shirt of the bianconeri and to share so many special moments together.

"I cherish the moments we made. They live on"
