Former Manchester United star Anthony Martial has already done something for new club AEK Athens that he couldn't manage for over three years at Old Trafford.

Back in 2015, Martial left French Ligue 1 side AS Monaco for United in a deal worth a reported fee of £36 million.

Despite the hype, Martial's time as a United player was badly hampered by multiple injury issues, meaning he failed to nail down a regular starting spot.

At the end of the 23/24 season, Martial departed Manchester upon the expiration of his contract. In total, he made 317 appearances for United across all competitions, scoring 90 goals.

In September, it was confirmed that Martial had joined Greek side AEK Athens, who reportedly offered the 28-year-old a lucrative deal worth £2.5 million per season.

Since moving to Greece, Martial has managed one goal and one assist in five appearances across all competitions.

The Frenchman has also managed to achieve something he wasn't able to do at United for over three years, which is to complete back-to-back 90 minutes.

As per Transfermarkt, Martial played the full match for AEK Athens vs Atromitos on November 3 before doing so again against Asteras Aktor on November 9.

The last time he played two full matches for United was back in January 2021, against Aston Villa and Burnley.

Recently, the media in Greece have been praising Martial's impact, with Gazzetta stating that although the former Monaco and Lyon forward hasn't fully exploded into life just yet, he "has presented us with some first samples of his undeniable footballing quality".

The publication wrote: "From his body language, but also from his statements, he shows that he is completely satisfied with what he found at AEK and with the atmosphere he experiences at home games at OPAP Arena. And the more he raises the levels of his readiness and knows better the game of his teammates, the more his offer will be seen with... the naked eye."

AEK Athens will be back in Super League Greece action this weekend when they take on Olympiacos at the Georgios Karaiskakis Football Stadium on Sunday evening.
