Mauricio Pochettino likes the look of the 'exciting' and 'talented' Manchester United player.

Mauricio Pochettino has already singled out an 'exciting' player at Manchester United amid reports linking him with a sensational switch to Old Trafford.

Pochettino has been linked with replacing Erik ten Hag at Man United following his shock Chelsea departure.

He left Stamford Bridge by mutual consent after just one season in charge.

Pochettino is thought to be on Man United's radar as reports claim they could change their manager ahead of the 2024/25 campaign.

And ahead of potentially taking charge of the Old Trafford outfit, the Argentine boss has already highlighted fellow countryman Alejandro Garnacho as a 'talented' player.

Speaking ahead of his old side's match against the Red Devils this season, Pochettino said: "He is an exciting player, young and talented. It’s not surprising to us because we knew about him when he was in Spain before moving to Manchester.

"It’s good to see a young player being brave and showing the talent that he is showing."

He added: "He is Argentinian and Spanish. He is the opposite of me because I am Argentinian-Spanish; he is Spanish-Argentinian.

"It’s exciting because it’s good to have these type of players for the national team and I’m excited to see him on the pitch."

Garnacho, 19, made 49 appearances across all competitions this season, including 36 Premier League games.

He's become a pivotal player under Ten Hag this season and has nine goals to his name this term.

The Argentina international has showed off his ability and his attacking prowess, clearly impressing Pochettino, who could be coaching the starlet next season.

The 52-year-old was linked with the Man United vacancy before Ten Hag's appointment.

He made his name as a manager at Southampton before taking charge of Tottenham, where he enjoyed five seasons in charge.

Pochettino left England for Paris Saint-Germain then returned to these shores to manage Chelsea.
