Forgotten Chelsea player 'exiled' by Mauricio Pochettino 'likes' post confirming his departure from the club

Forgotten Chelsea player 'exiled' by Mauricio Pochettino 'likes' post confirming his departure from the club

Chelsea and Mauricio Pochettino parted ways on Tuesday evening.

A forgotten Chelsea star has ‘liked’ a social media post confirming Mauricio Pochettino’s departure.

On Tuesday evening, it was confirmed that Pochettino and Chelsea have mutually agreed to terminate their working relationship.

The decision came as a bit of a shock after Chelsea’s encouraging end to the 23/24 Premier League campaign meant they qualified for European football.

A club statement read: “Chelsea FC can confirm that the Club and Mauricio Pochettino have mutually agreed to part ways. Jesus Perez, Miguel d’Agostino, Toni Jimenez and Sebastiano Pochettino have left the club with Mauricio.

“The Club will be making no further comment until such time as a new Head Coach is appointed.”

On the back of the news, it was spotted that Chelsea’s forgotten star, Malang Sarr, appeared to like an Instagram post which confirmed Pochettino’s exit.

However, it appears that the defender later unliked the post.

Sarr, 25, joined the Stamford Bridge club back in 2020 but as reported by The Athletic earlier this year, the defender was exiled by Chelsea.

It was claimed that Sarr no longer had a locker in the first team building at Chelsea’s Cobham training ground and had to get changed with the U21s instead.

According to the Daily Mail, a source said: “I have never seen him as low as this. This is the first time I have seen him like this. He tries to change his mental state, but it is hard when you are not playing. He is not in the first-team dressing room anymore, he is with the kids in the other building.

“He feels outside the group. He tries to hide his feelings, but I know him, what he is really feeling.”

On his exit from the club, Pochettino said: “Thank you to the Chelsea ownership group and Sporting Directors for the opportunity to be part of this football club's history. The Club is now well positioned to keep moving forward in the Premier League and Europe in the years to come.”

As Chelsea now begin their search for Pochettino’s replacement, the likes of Roberto De Zerbi, Ruben Amorim, Kieran McKenna and Thomas Tuchel have all been linked with the vacancy.
