Eagle-eyed Manchester United supporters have spotted Marcus Rashford's reaction to Tyrell Malacia leaving the club on loan.

Malacia, 25, has struggled for fitness and form since joining United from Feyenoord in 2022 in a deal worth around £13m.

He missed around 17 months of first-team football after undergoing knee surgery in the summer of 2023, with his return to action delayed by setbacks in his rehabilitation.

Malacia finally made his return earlier this season but has found starts hard to come by under new head coach Ruben Amorim, managing just eight first-team appearances this term – the majority from the bench.

After United signed left-back Patrick Dorgu from Lecce for £25m in the winter transfer window, Malacia was allowed to return to the Netherlands – joining PSV Eindhoven on loan until the end of the season.

That move was confirmed by both United and PSV on Wednesday, with the Dutch club posting a picture of Malacia in their kit to Instagram, alongside the caption: "Welcome to Eindhoven, Tyrell."

Fans spotted that Rashford, who also left the club on loan during the winter window – joining Aston Villa until the end of the season, was one of the first players to comment.

He responded with an apparent nickname for Malacia, commenting: "Twinnyyyyy."

United supporters were quick to react to the comment on social media.

"Called him twinny cause they both left Man United, lmao," joked one fan on X.

Another posted: "Two best friends left on loan."

While a third added: "Both went out on loan and won't return, twinnie indeed."

Rashford joined Villa after being repeatedly left out of United's matchday squads by Amorim, who had criticised the player's efforts in training in recent months.

The loan deal includes an option for the West Midlands club to buy the England international for £40m.

After the announcement was made, Rashford took to social media to explain his decision to leave his boyhood club.

He wrote: "I would like to thank Manchester United and Aston Villa for making this loan deal happen.

"I was lucky to have a few clubs approach me, but Aston Villa was an easy decision - I really admire the way that Aston Villa have been playing this season, and the manager's ambitions. I just want to play football and am excited to get started.

"I wish everyone at Manchester United all the best for the rest of the season."

Rashford could make his debut for his new club on Sunday when they face Tottenham in the fourth round of the FA Cup.
