Manchester United fans have called for Ruben Amorim to sign a certain player after a glittering performance in Aston Villa’s 2-1 win against Manchester City.

Unai Emery’s side put in an impressive performance against Pep Guardiola’s team, who have now won just once in their last 12 games.

Despite the world-class talent such as Phil Foden, Erling Haaland and Bernardo Silva starting the match, it was an Aston Villa player who was praised by fans on social media.

And it was City’s rivals Man United’s fans who think they know who their club’s next transfer target should be.

Morgan Rogers, 22, scored Villa’s second of the match and put in an excellent performance against the Premier League champions. He had earlier provided the assist for Jhon Duran's opener.

United fans gave their take on social media.

One said: “This is the guy United need to break the bank for that left-sided no.10 spot. Morgan Rogers. Possibly the best ball carrier in the league. Unbelievable technically as well.”

Another added: “Rodgers and Amad in the #10 positions.”

A third commented: “Morgan Rogers is a brilliant player, so good on the ball. His directness and drive is a joy to watch; I would love to have a player like him in one of the 10 positions at United.”

A fourth stressed: "I need this Rogers guy in Man Utd asapppp!!"

While a fifth exclaimed: "Manchester United need to go all out for Rogers to play that left 10 role."

Another said: "We seriously seriously need to look at Morgan Rogers next summer man because he is so so silky on the ball man."

Rogers has now scored five goals and registered three assists in 17 Premier League matches this term. The result saw Aston Villa go above Guardiola's side into fifth place, with City dropping to sixth.

Ironically, Rogers is a former City player, having joined the club from West Brom back in 2019.

However, he failed to make a single appearance for the senior side and was loaned to Lincoln, Bournemouth and Blackpool before penning a permanent deal at Middlesbrough in 2023. He impressed at the Championship side and earned himself a move to the Premier League with Villa in February 2024.

It is unclear if United are interested in the player, but Rogers is contracted to Villa until June 2030.
