Manchester United defender Ayden Heaven has released his first official statement since sustaining a serious injury during the Red Devils’ 3-0 win against Leicester City on Sunday.

Heaven, 18, started the match at the King Power but was stretchered off in the second half of the game after sustaining an injury following a clash with Leicester striker Patson Daka.

After the match, Man United head coach Ruben Amorim issued an update on the teenager’s fitness.

“Well, we have to evaluate during the week,” said Amorim.

“He's a young kid, he doesn't know how to explain what he's feeling, so it's hard for us to know something.

“He's a bit a little bit more calm now, but we have to assess during the week. But he's doing a great job and it's a shame if he has something for quite a long [time]. We wish him all the best.”

Now, the player has issued an update via his Instagram account.

Heaven posted a photograph of him on a stretcher with the caption: "Thank you guys for all the support! Have read all your messages, and I'm doing really well and recovering fast."

The exact extent of the player's injury is still unclear but he will likely face a spell on the sidelines. Heaven joined United from Arsenal in the winter transfer window and has impressed during his four appearances for the 20-time Premier League champions.

Heaven's injury is the latest addition to a lengthy lay-off list which includes his fellow defenders Leny Yoro, Lisandro Martinez and Harry Maguire.

Amorim, 40, has already praised Heaven and just last week described him as a "complete" defender.

"I really like his confidence," Amorim explained.

"I like his pace, I think he is good in defending the box and I think he is quite complete. But he has a lot of work to do in the Premier League. We will face a different kind of player and he will be tested in a different kind of way, so we are trying to manage all of this because he is still really young."

United will return to action on Tuesday 1 April with a trip to the City Ground where they will face Nottingham Forest.
