A new report has provided further insight into Jadon Sancho's public fallout with Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag.

In the build-up to United's Premier League clash against Arsenal in September, Sancho was banished from first-team training after he responded to Erik ten Hag's statement about his below-par performances in training.

Taking to social media, the 24-year-old winger said: "Please don't believe everything you read. I will not allow people saying things that is completely untrue, I have conducted myself very well in training this week."

He added: "I believe there are other reasons for this matter that I won't go into, I've been a scapegoat for a long time which isn't fair."

Sancho eventually removed the post from social media but refused to apologise to Ten Hag, meaning he was completely ostracised from United's first-team squad.

After an uncomfortable period, Sancho returned to former club Borussia Dortmund on a six-month loan in January.

Sancho's future at Old Trafford remains unclear but ahead of next month's pre-season tour, more details around his bust-up with Ten Hag have emerged.

In a detailed report from The Athletic, it is suggested that Sancho did not commit to pressing as an 'opposition' player in a practice match as Ten Hag wanted before their trip to North London.

Sancho then walked off the pitch after being offered the chance to end his involvement early.

As well all know, Ten Hag publicly commented on Sancho's efforts in training after the 3-1 defeat to Arsenal. "We didn't select him," the Dutchman explained after the full-time whistle.

"You have to reach a level every day at Manchester United and we can make choices on the frontline, so for this game he wasn't selected."

Things spiralled from there. Ten Hag tried to explain his point to Sancho in a meeting before attempted to schedule another chat a few days later.

Sancho, a £73 million signing from Borussia Dortmund in 2021, was then expected to apologise privately to his manager in the coming days, but that never happened.

Sancho's attitude is also mentioned in the piece. Ten Hag is said to appreciate his 'incredible' talent but the winger's attitude 'did not correspond to a winning culture'.

So what's next for Sancho? After helping secure Dortmund's place in the Champions League final with a win over PSG last month, he admitted to being unsure about his future.

Speaking to CBS Sports, the United winger was asked about his future. “I really don't know," he said.
