Manchester United fans have been left concerned after hearing what Ruben Amorim said in his post-match press conference following their side's 3-1 defeat to Brighton.

United suffered a fourth defeat in six Premier League matches at Old Trafford following goals from Yankuba Minteh, Kaoru Mitoma and Georginio Rutter.

Bruno Fernandes made it 1-1 from the penalty spot in the first half, but it was another poor performance from United typified by individual errors.

Fans expressed their concerns over the tactical system being utilised by the former Sporting Lisbon boss and its suitability for the current players.

But Amorim's post-match comments appear to firmly indicate his thoughts on those concerns.

When asked if he expects the situation to remain difficult, he replied: "That is clear. With me, that is clear.

"Because I'm not going to change the way I see the game. I'm very clear on that. The players are going to suffer, I'm really sorry, the fans are going to suffer.

"I have one way of doing things. I know it's going to bring results. But we have to suffer these moments. I think it's very clear for everybody what we are going to do."

While some fans had a mixed response to Amorim's comments - with some praising the United boss for sticking to his system after some encouraging signs versus Liverpool and Arsenal - some fans went as far as to fear relegation from the top flight.

One claimed: "This guy will get us relegated won't he? How does a manager of a club like Manchester United know only one system to play?"

Another wrote: "Home record appalling, so lucky we got the win over Southampton or otherwise we could have been relegated."

A third added: "The reality is United are 13th in the table and in relegation form. We create little and concede daft goals."

While fans have expressed their concerns, though, Amorim's side are comfortably 10 points clear of the bottom three with 26 points.

Last season, 26 points would have been enough to keep a side up on goal difference, with 16 games still to play this season to determine whether a higher bar will be set this time around.
