A Manchester United fan has taken inspiration from Boney M's hit song Rasputin when creating a new chant for Rasmus Hojlund – and the song is going viral.

Hojlund has been one of United's standout performers this season.

The Danish forward, who joined Erik ten Tag's side from Atalanta in the summer for an initial £64 million plus £8 million in add-ons, made a relatively slow start to life at Old Trafford.

But the 21-year-old has certainly found his feet of late. He is currently United's top scorer with 13 goals in all competitions, including five in the Champions League.

After such an impressive run of late, the United fanbase are getting behind their star striker with a chant inspired by German pop group Boney M and their memorable 1978 hit Rasputin.

Instagram user PrinceRyank28 posted footage of the Hojlund chant, and the clip soon made its way onto X, formerly Twitter.

The chant goes: "Ra, Ra, Rasmus he's signed for us from Italy. He is a man who's hungry to score. Ra, Ra, Rasmus he's Denmark's greatest goal machine. His name is Hojlund and he's red to the core."

Here's how fans on social media have reacted to the new chant.

One said: "Great chant, can’t wait to sing it," while another commented: "I was expecting it to be cringey but it’s kinda catchy."

A third wrote: "I still like 'Rasmus, Rasmus' like Maximus in Gladiator. Would be great to hear 70 odd thousand chanting."

A fourth said: "If you think I’m gonna waste my time singing this under my breath when he scores you’re absolutely goddamn right."

A fifth added: "Now let’s hear this with 70,000 inside Old Trafford."

Following goals against Wolves, West Ham, Aston Villa and Luton last month, Erik ten Hag said Hojlund can "score even more" for United as they continue to challenge for a spot in Europe.

“We recruited him on his character,” Ten Hag said. “I knew it was strong. He can really perform under stress and that is something you need as a Manchester United striker.

"He doesn’t get nervous or lose confidence. He has a lot of confidence and I’m sure he will score even more."

The Dutchman added: “He needed support but he kept calm. He was unlucky at the start. You see he’s a fighter, he keeps going. There are many areas where he can improve but his scoring ability is clear.”
