Manchester United star Marcus Rashford has received a wave of support after posting an emotional statement on social media.

Rashford was part of the United side who beat rivals City 2-1 to win the FA Cup on Saturday but called the recent campaign "a challenging season individually and collectively".

The 26-year-old was unable to replicate a fine 30-goal 2022/23 campaign under Erik ten Hag, scoring just eight times in all competitions this time around.

He was subsequently omitted from England's Euro 2024 squad and faced plenty of criticism - which he addressed online and stated that "enough is enough".

The forward's future remains unclear but on Monday night he announced he would be taking a break from social media to reset.

He wrote: "It's time to come off Socials for a few weeks. I plan to rest and reset mentally after a challenging season individually and collectively. Thanks to the fans that stood by me through a difficult period.

"To the ones that didn’t just remember at United, we always stick together."

Rashford was seething after a comment made to him by a fan prior to United's final home game of the season and engaged in a verbal exchange.

He was much happier this weekend though as he won the FA Cup for the second time and was overcome with emotion following the win.

Reacting to his post, one fan wrote: "Recharge, head down, strong individual pre season, join the rest of the group already 2 steps ahead of everyone else. Use the omission from the squad as a positive Marcus.. you have the opportunity."

Another said: "Next season, we will see the best Rashford."

A third replied: "Come back stronger king!"

Another said: "Enjoy your time off bro, you've earned it. Well done on an epic way to end the season!"

A final user told Rashford: "We're all behind you Marcus."
