Harry Maguire's ownership percentage on Fantasy Premier League is set to significantly increase if he joins West Ham.

The 30-year-old defender, who has been selected by just 0.2 per cent of FPL players at the time of writing, is close to leaving Manchester United after the Hammers reached an 'agreement in principle' on Wednesday.

Personal terms are not expected to be a problem, according to Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth, as the England international looks set to leave Old Trafford in a deal worth £30 million.

Maguire, meanwhile, has been promised the West Ham captaincy by David Moyes if he joins this summer, meaning he will undoubtedly pick up regular first-team minutes this season.

And on top of that, the England international could score a decent amount of goals from set-pieces after West Ham reached an agreement to sign Southampton midfielder James Ward-Prowse.

Ward-Prowse, who is set to join the Hammers for around £30 million, will no doubt offer a huge threat from set-pieces, and that potential link-up with Maguire has got Fantasy Premier League users talking.

One fan wrote: "West Ham signing JWP to deliver headers to Maguire. Maguire is 4.5m. The stars are aligning," while another said: "Ward-Prowse and Maguire in the same team is going to be a set-piece cheat code for the fantasy assist and goal points."

A third commented: "Maguire moving from United to West Ham instantaneously makes him a #FPL desirable. At 4.5m, expect that ownership of 0.2% to significantly go up."

A fourth added: "I can smell the nastiest Ward-Prowse in swinger from the corner flag to be met by a Maguire bullet header at the London Stadium."

We are just days away from this season's Premier League opener and fans are making final tweaks to their FPL team.

West Ham's deal to sign Maguire will likely go beyond this weekend's fixtures, but the guys at FantasyFootballHub have gave fans some useful tips by creating an AI-generated team for Gameweek 1 using key data and stats.

Brighton full-back Pervis Estupinan, who can be bought for just £5.0m, is a popular pick, with the defender set to come up against Luton, Wolves and West Ham in his opening three fixtures.

Bryan Mbuemo of Brentford also features regularly. In fact, 23.3 per cent of users have selected the Cameroonian forward ahead of Gameweek 1.

Here is the AI-generated team in full:

  • GK: Jason Steele (BHA)
  • GK: Matthew Macey (LUT)
  • DEF: Pervis Estupiñan (BHA)
  • DEF: John Stones (MCI)
  • DEF: Nathan Ake (MCI)
