Manchester United's next likely signing if they get the Benjamin Sesko deal over the line has been revealed.

United are pushing hard to make the Slovenian their fourth signing of the summer, following the captures of Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo and Diego Leon.

Sesko, also a top target for Newcastle United, has reportedly agreed personal terms over a proposed five-year deal at Old Trafford - which is believed to be his preference.

United tabled a bid of £74 million for the RB Leipzig striker but still need to thrash out a complete and final agreement to acquire their new No.9.

Even if the Red Devils do snap up Sesko ahead of Carabao Cup winners and Champions League participants Newcastle, it's believed that their summer business will still not be wrapped up.

According to Fabrizio Romano, who has been across the Sesko developments, the 13-time Premier League champions have "full focus" on the 22-year-old but if "there will be an opportunity for midfield, United may go for it".

United are yet to strengthen that area, having let Christian Eriksen leave upon the expiration of his contract.

Carlos Baleba of Brighton has been touted as a potential signing but according to Spanish outlet Fichajes, United's priority is to go after Barcelona midfielder Fermin Lopez.

Lopez forced his way into the Barcelona first-team with a slew of impressive displays during the 2023 pre-season campaign under Xavi Hernandez.

He went on to score 11 goals in 42 games in his breakthrough campaign and followed it up with eight goals and 10 assists in 46 games in all competitions as Barca won La Liga and the Copa del Rey under Hansi Flick last term.

The Euro 2024 winner is not a regular starter, with the likes of Pedri, Gavi and Dani Olmo competing with him in his position.

And according to the report, United, who allowed Marcus Rashford to join Barcelona, are hopeful of doing business again for around £61 million.

"The young Barcelona talent has become Manchester United ‘s main target to strengthen their midfield in this summer transfer window," the report states.

"At Old Trafford, they see the Andalusian player as a player capable of making a difference, and the English board is already working on a proposal that could be around €70 million (£61m) to convince the Catalan club."

In October, Lopez signed a new contract with Barcelona until 2029 - with a €500 million release clause in the deal.
