All in all, it was an evening to forget for Manchester United as they suffered a 2-0 defeat to Arsenal but fans are taking positives from Wednesday night's clash at the Emirates. Step forward, Leny Yoro.

The 19-year-old centre-back, who completed a move to Old Trafford in the summer having impressed at Ligue 1 side Lille last season, joined the ranks for an initial £52.2 million plus add-ons.

It was a steep fee given his lack of experience but Yoro impressed on his debut against Rangers.

That being said, the teenager fractured the fifth metatarsal in his left foot on Manchester United's pre-season tour, ruling him out for around three months.

It has been a long road to recovery for the teenager but on Wednesday night, he finally made his competitive debut for the club as he replaced Harry Maguire in the 59th minute.

Yoro looked comfortable in possession against Arsenal and, after a handful of well-timed challenges in the final half hour, many expressed their delight at his composed display.

Here's how fans on social media reacted to Yoro's cameo.

One fan wrote: "Leny Yoro has been excellent. He's been thrown into the lion's den, but his defending and timing in the tackle has been superb," while another commented: "At least Leny Yoro isn’t all hype. He’s the real deal."

A third said: "Leny Yoro is the real deal at least there’s some positives."

A fourth wrote: "Leny Yoro is an absolute monster at the back, can’t wait for him to start an actual game."

A fifth added: "Regardless of tonight, at least we see an identity and if there’s any emblem of it through Leny Yoro, it is golden and inevitable."

Speaking ahead of kick-off, United head coach Ruben Amorim was full of praise for Yoro.

"He is a special talent, we have to be careful in the first moment. We didn't have too many training [sessions] together. He has been training with a small group of players," Amorim said.

"He is really fast, a modern defender. He will be good when we want to press high and you leave a lot of strikers in this league one against one, he can manage that. He is very good with the ball so I am very excited.

"We have to be careful, we have to manage the load and minute in the beginning but I am really excited to see Leny Yoro playing."
