Manchester United defender Lisandro Martinez has doubled down on comments slamming the club's board following their Champions League defeat to Atletico Madrid.
United extended their winless run to five matches in all competitions with a 2-0 loss to Atletico Madrid and were reduced to 10 men when Leny Yoro was sent off in the 74th minute after denying a clear goalscoring opportunity.
A disappointing performance at the Metropolitano Stadium was made even worse by Martinez's scathing attack on sporting director Jason Wilcox at full-time, with the Argentine defender sharing similar comments to Mohamed Salah at Liverpool almost a year ago.

Lisandro Martinez doubles down on comments slamming Man United's board
In a show of honesty that was celebrated by millions of Man United supporters across the globe, Martinez risked punishment by calling out how the club has been run after a disappointing transfer window.

"Really poor. I have to control myself a lot. Sometimes it's a reflection in the mirror of our club at this moment," the 28-year-old said on Amazon Prime.
"We had a fantastic season last season and I expect more from the top to bring more players to compete because many teams bring many players.
“I expect more from our technical director, I have to be honest and also as players we have to do more."
Martinez has been at Old Trafford since joining from Ajax in 2022, and he is aware of how ruthless they are with managers, claiming that he thinks Michael Carrick hasn't been backed properly.
Shortly after sharing his post-match thoughts with Amazon Prime, the Argentine doubled down on this stance in a second interview with Man United icon Peter Schmeichel.
“We have many games, we have to rotate players, and for me we don’t have the best squad compared to other top teams," Martinez told CBS Sports.
"As a club, I expect more. I’m not gonna close my mouth; we need to have more ambition.
“I try to be positive and try to be honest. We have to change and do more because I think we are capable of being better. We have the players.
“But also, when you watch the games on television, you see the players and the manager and you point the finger, which is right, we take the responsibility. But also, as a club, I expect more, you know?
“I expect more. I’m not going to close my mouth.
“We need more ambition. We need to talk more about winning the Champions League and winning the Premier League. If we don’t say the truth, nothing will change.”
Man United midfielder Youri Tielemans refused to comment on the claims in his post-match interview, as did Carrick, who is coming under increasing pressure after failing to win any of his last five matches.

Wayne Rooney calls out "disrespectful" Lisandro Martinez
Martinez's brutally honest comments were similar to when Salah threw Arne Slot under the bus at Liverpool in December 2025 following their 3-3 draw with Leeds United.
Salah was then dropped from Liverpool's squad and left behind for the Champions League match against Inter Milan.
A similar punishment could be on the horizon for Martinez and, according to Man United legend Wayne Rooney, he felt the comments from the Argentina international were "premeditated" while slamming him as "disrespectful" for calling out the club publicly.
"I think Martinez was very premeditated," Rooney said. "Why is he doing the interview after this game? Has he put himself forward, I very rarely hear him speak.
"It looked a bit premeditated and something he spoke about with his team to get out there. It's sad because when you need everyone to stick together as players, you can't be told what's going on above you.
"So you need them players, the manager, the coaching staff to stick together when you're having a difficult time; otherwise, something like that will rip a dressing room apart.
"I think it's a bit disrespectful to his teammates as well because he's disrespecting his teammates; he's saying they're not good enough."
Man United return to action with a trip to Leeds United in the Premier League on Sunday (October 18) and the build-up to that match will undoubtedly centre on Martinez's comments.
