Jadon Sancho set for 'spectacular' transfer as 'secret meeting' held over Man Utd swap deal

Jadon Sancho set for 'spectacular' transfer as 'secret meeting' held over Man Utd swap deal

This would be a huge move.

Manchester United winger Jadon Sancho could be set to return to Borussia Dortmund next month as part of a shock swap deal, according to a new report.

Sancho was exiled by United boss Erik ten Hag in September after a public disagreement surrounding his training performances.

The 23-year-old has been training away from the first team since then, and The Independent claim that United will listen to offers for him in January.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with The United Stand earlier this week, Ten Hag confirmed that, given his chance again, he would not do anything different in dealing with the Sancho issue. It appears increasingly likely that the England international has played his last game for the club.

According to German outlet BILD, Dortmund are interested in a potential return for Sancho, with the winger having scored 50 goals in 138 appearances in all competitions during his spell at Signal Iduna Park.

However, it is claimed that Sancho would need to accept a reduction in his salary in order to make the move back to the German giants.

The report adds, though, that United could be getting a player - one of Ten Hag's compatriots - in exchange.

It is claimed that a swap deal involving forward Donyell Malen, who has scored four goals in 12 Bundesliga games this season, has 'picked up speed', and that discussions have already been held between Dortmund and the player's advisors. It is said that the meeting was held in 'secret'.

The Netherlands forward recently signed up with the SEG agency, it has been reported, which also represents Ten Hag, Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola and Liverpool star Cody Gakpo.

Malen represented Arsenal's youth teams from the age of 16 after moving from Ajax, and was widely considered as a future prospect at the Emirates Stadium.

However, the forward never made a first team appearance under Arsene Wenger and was sold to PSV in the summer of 2017 before earning his move to Dortmund.

A centre forward who is capable of playing off either flank, Malen could be an ideal addition to Ten Hag's squad for little cost in January.
