Fabrizio Romano reveals what he's 'heard' about Man Utd outcast Jadon Sancho and the Saudi Pro League

Romano has spoken.

Fabrizio Romano has provided an update on Jadon Sancho's future, amid the player's Manchester United exile.

Sancho has been absent from United first team affairs since being embroiled in a public spat with manager Erik ten Hag.

The United boss claimed Sancho had not been selected as part of the United squad that lost 3-1 to Arsenal because of his performances in training.

However, the 23-year-old winger subsequently released a statement refuting his managers claims and insisting that he had been "scapegoated" at the club.

Sancho is now training away from the first-team squad, pending the outcome of the disciplinary issue, with it having been widely reported that the player can only return to the first team fold once he apologises to Ten Hag.

Since the spat Sancho has been linked with several clubs across the continent and in the Saudi Pro League.

However on whether such moves will materialise, transfer guru Romano told the United Stand: "He was never close to joining Al Ettifaq in the last 24 to 48 hours of the Saudi transfer window.

"The Saudi club announced they were interested, but only via intermediaries so it was never concrete. I think Sancho wants to play European football - super competitive football. This is why he joined Manchester United from Borussia Dortmund.

"Lets see what happens but at the moment there is no final decision made."

On whether other clubs are interested in Sancho's services, Romano said: "At the moment there is not something concrete so I can't say there is one club already working on the Jadon Sancho deal.

"What we can say is that there are a lot of rumours over the summer and in the past few days about Borussia Dortmund, but as of today, from what I'm hearing, Borussia Dortmund have different plans and are looking for different players."

"Also regarding English clubs, no one has called Man Utd to prepare something for January. We are not yet at that stage. It is still very early."
