Jadon Sancho breaks silence on Man Utd future after ending Erik ten Hag's Champions League hopes

Jadon Sancho has spoken about his future after dealing a hammer blow to Erik ten Hag's chances of remaining Manchester United manager.

Sancho produced an excellent individual performance as Borussia Dortmund beat Paris Saint-Germain 1-0 in their Champions League semi-final first leg in Germany on Wednesday night.

The 24-year-old has rediscovered his form since rejoining Dortmund on loan from United in the January transfer window.

He returned to the Bundesliga after falling out with United manager Ten Hag earlier this season.

Sancho was banished from the first-team squad in September after he refused to apologise to the Dutch manager in a row over his efforts in training.

After Ten Hag publicly called out Sancho in a press conference, the player responded by claiming he had been made a 'scapegoat' by the United boss – branding his claims 'completely untrue'.

He later joined Dortmund on loan and has been linked with a permanent move to the club in the summer transfer window.

When asked if he plans to remain at the club next season, Sancho told CBS Sports: "I really don't know. I'm focused on the present right now."

Sancho has inadvertently dealt a major blow to Ten Hag's hopes of remaining at Old Trafford next season.

Dortmund's victory over PSG means Germany will join Italy in having an extra place in the Champions League next season, based on performances in European competition in the current campaign.

Fifth place in the Premier League will not be good enough for a spot in the Champions League next season, meaning United's slim hopes of qualifying for the competition are now over.

That has almost certainly harmed Ten Hag's chances of remaining as manager, with Sir Jim Ratcliffe reportedly considering sacking the Dutchman.

Bayern Munich manager Thomas Tuchel has been linked with the top job at Old Trafford, while England manager Gareth Southgate is also among the favourites for the role, should Ten Hag be sacked.
