Manchester United appeared to aim a parting shot at Jadon Sancho after his move to Aston Villa.
On transfer deadline day, United were busy as they offloaded multiple players while bringing in goalkeeper Senne Lammens from Belgian side Royal Antwerp.
While Sancho made his loan move to Villa, striker Rasmus Hojlund joined Serie A champions Napoli and Brazilian winger Antony was sold to Spanish La Liga side Real Betis.
Announcing the transfer, United wrote on their official website: "Manchester United winger Jadon Sancho has signed for Aston Villa in a season-long loan deal, subject to registration. Sancho joined the club in July 2021, arriving from Borussia Dortmund.

"He had a loan spell back at the Bundesliga side in the second part of the 2023/24 season, appearing in the UEFA Champions League final defeat to Real Madrid at Wembley."

United then appeared to aim a thinly-veiled dig at Sancho by mentioning the fact that this will be the third time he has been loaned out since moving to Old Trafford.
The statement continued: "The winger spent the following campaign at Chelsea. Hence, this move represents the third loan of his career.

"Villa's next fixture is on Saturday 13 September, when they have an away game against Everton in the Premier League. We wish Jadon the best of luck for his time with the Midlanders."
During his last loan spell, Sancho made a total of 41 appearances across all competitions for Chelsea, scoring five goals in the process.
Aside from Sancho, Villa also managed to bring in former United man Victor Lindelof, who left the Red Devils this summer upon the expiration of his contract.
In addition, Liverpool star Harvey Elliott has also moved to Villa Park. The 22-year-old will join on an initial loan with an obligation to buy next summer, subject to appearance-related terms.

Villa will be back in Premier League action on September 13 when they take on David Moyes' Everton at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.
