Donny van de Beek produced a moment of magic as he scored a stunning goal for Manchester United against Lyon, and it meant so much to him.

Van de Beek entered the fray at the break and made an instant impression as he opened the scoring just four minutes after the interval.

Dan Gore, who also came off the bench, played a superb cross to Van de Beek, who finished brilliantly with a lovely side-footed volley.

A second tweeted: "I'm so happy for him, genuinely want him to work put at United."

A third added: "Yeah, It's only a goal in preseason. But it's the first positive thing that has happened for him in a long time! Just happy to see him smile."

A fourth said: "Amazing goal, you can tell how much that goal means to him, keep up the hard work."

Another commented: "I know it’s only a friendly but so glad to see Donny back on the pitch and scoring."

The 26-year-old made just 10 appearances in all competitions last season as he suffered a crushing knee injury against Bournemouth back in January.

But he's back to full fitness ahead of the new season in what could be a breakout campaign under Erik ten Hag.

Van de Beek has failed to replicate his stellar form at Ajax since his move to Old Trafford in 2020.

He's scored just two goals in 60 games in all competitions and spent time away from the club in the shape of a loan spell at Everton during the 2021/22 season.

Will Van de Beek come good at Man United? Let us know what you think.
