Cesc Fabregas Has Made His Feelings Clear on Man Utd as Club Target Como Coach

The Arsenal and Chelsea legend has been strongly linked with a return to the Premier League.

Cesc Fabregas has already spoken out about the possibility of managing a top Premier League side amid links with Manchester United.

After their first seven matches of the 2025/26 season, it looks like Manchester United are continuing the disastrous form that saw them achieve their lowest ever Premier League finish last season.

So far this season, the Red Devils have just two wins, with their most disastrous performance being the shock loss to League Two side Grimsby Town in the second round of the Carabao Cup.

Of course, with poor form comes questions regarding Ruben Amorim's future, with several reports suggesting that senior club officials are strongly considering sacking the United manager should he fail to turn things around.

One of the names that has been linked with the job at Old Trafford should Amorim depart is Arsenal and Chelsea legend Fabregas, and he's already made his feelings about potentially managing a club like United clear.

After a 20 year career that saw him win 16 trophies including the Premier League, the Euros and the World Cup, Fabregas announced his retirement from football in July 2023.

Immediately after announcing his retirement, Fabregas was appointed as head coach of Como's under-19 and B-teams and later took over as the interim manager of the first-team just four months later.

In July 2024, he took on the role on a permanent basis and has continued to impress with the Italian club, leading to him being linked with several massive clubs.

And it's clear that a move to the Premier League is top of Fabregas' priorities, as he opened up about his future plans in an interview with Sky Sports shortly after he took started his managerial career.

Speaking in August 2023, he said: The Premier League is the objective; it is the biggest dream a coach can have.

"But let's keep improving. Have I got it in me? Time will tell. I believe so much in my methodology and every day you learn so much. Expectations are there but it is what you do and how you manage those expectations."

And that isn't the first time that Fabregas has spoken out about his hopes of returning to the Premier League as, after spending some time with Arsenal doing some sessions with the club’s Under-18 manager, Jack Wilshere, he revealed his future plans.

Speaking to Standard Sport, he said: “You never know how the future will go, but I want to be a main coach. I am doing my own way at the moment. 100 per cent my ambition one day is to coach a top club in the Premier League, the Champions League.

However, should Fabregas make the decision to return to England in the near future, it is perhaps unlikely that United would be his first choice, despite the recent links.

In 2024, the Premier League legend described United as 'lacking' something and specifically pointed out that the club tends to 'ruin' players like Casemiro, Jadon Sancho, Sofyan Amrabat.
