Carlo Ancelotti has already explained why he turned down a move to Manchester United amid rumours of an offer made to the current Real Madrid manager.

This week, it has been reported that Ancelotti has received an offer from a Premier League club who are looking for a coach next season.

According to Spanish journalist Juama Castano, who revealed the club in question was United whilst speaking on the radio programme Tiempo de Juego on Cope.

Ancelotti is being linked with a move away from Madrid after three years in charge as his contract is set to expire at the end of the 23/24 season.

Apart from United, the Italian has also been linked with the Brazil national team job.

However, Ancelotti has previously revealed why he rejected a move to Old Trafford.

Back in 2020, he admitted he was offered the job at United prior to Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement.

As per GOAL, Ancelotti said: “You want to know from me [about coaching at Man Utd]?!

“I can say that I still keep a fantastic relationship with Sir Alex, and we met when he decided to stop (retire).”

He added: “But I was close to Real Madrid, and so I appreciate the fact that at that time he talked to me. And that’s it, no other opportunity [to manage United].”

Ancelotti has previously been asked whether former Liverpool midfielder and current Bayer Leverkusen boss Xabi Alonso could become his successor.

He said: “Xabi Alonso? He can be a future Real Madrid manager, without a doubt. He can do this job; he has all the qualities to be a good manager.

“I like him and how he coaches his team. He's one of the managers I like the most.”

Speaking ahead of Madrid’s Champions League clash against Napoli, Ancelotti was asked about his future. As per Fabrizio Romano, the Italian replied: “I don’t speak about my future, sorry.

“Do I wanna stay? I don’t speak about it. I will give you an opportunity to ask me another question.”
