Remarkable Brentford stat emerges after draw against Man Utd

Brentford and Manchester United played out a dramatic 1-1 draw on Saturday.

A remarkable Brentford stat emerged following their dramatic draw with Manchester United on Saturday.

Brentford dominated their Premier League meeting against Man United at the Gtech Community Stadium.

But it appeared Man United had secured an undeserving snatch and grab after Mason Mount scored in the 96th minute.

Mount, who entered the fray in the second-half, combined brilliantly with Casemiro before slotting home to bring up his first goal for the club.

Brentford immediately hit back and drew level through Kristoffer Ajer who converted Ivan Toney's pass to make it 1-1 in the 99th minute.

The home side claimed a point but could've easily won the game as they completely controlled the league fixture.

Their dominance is summed up with an incredible piece of statistic, which is a record in this season's league campaign.

According to Squawka, Brentford are the first team to have 80+ touches inside the opposition box in a single league match this season.

After the game, Erik ten Hag admitted Man United didn't deserve to win as he bemoaned his side's showing.

"We didn’t deserve to win," he said. "But if you’re winning you have to take this. I would say normally we are very good in these circumstances.

"We showed resilience all through the game but in points of aggressiveness Brentford were better. We should show more passion and desire at many moments in the game. When you don’t play well you still have to win and we did it almost - that is my big disappointment that we didn’t bring it over the line. There was spirit and there was fight but not enough."

Ten Hag added: "We defended low at times and because Brentford are very direct, we lost many second balls.

"You have to defend the box and that is what we did quite well. The goalkeeper was brilliant - we have to say that. Our results are quite consistent from January on: we concede shots but we don’t concede goals."

Man United are 11 points adrift of fourth-placed Aston Villa as they resume their league campaign next Thursday against Chelsea.
