Benjamin Sesko's stats against Grimsby emerge and they look like a typo

Benjamin Sesko made his first start for Manchester United against Grimsby Town.

The stats from Benjamin Sesko's first start as a Manchester United player have emerged.

United produced another poor performance on Wednesday night as they took on League Two outfit Grimsby Town in the Carabao Cup.

The Red Devils entered the competition in the second round for the first time since 2014 and were not at the races from the first minute.

First-half goals from Charles Vernam and Tyrell Warren were enough to secure Grimsby a 2-0 lead.

However, Bryan Mbeumo scored in the 75th minute to propel United back into the contest.

United pushed for the equaliser and with 88 minutes on the clock, Harry Maguire headed home from a corner to complete the comeback, taking the tie to penalties.

Despite the Red Devils' heroics, it was an evening to forget for Sesko, who joined United from RB Leipzig in a deal worth £66.3 million plus add-ons.

Speaking after moving to Old Trafford, the 22-year-old said: "From the moment that I arrived, I could feel the positive energy and family environment that the club has created. It is clearly the perfect place to reach my maximum level and fulfil all of my ambitions.

"I cannot wait to start learning from Ruben [Amorim] and connecting with my team-mates to achieve the success that we all know we are capable of together."

Sesko has since made two appearances off the bench but has so far failed to impress.

During a tough night at Blundell Park, Sesko only managed a pass success rate of 63.6% and lost possession 10 times, according to stats collected by LiveScore.

The Slovenian made a total of just 11 passes, with seven of them finding their intended target.

In front of the goal, Sesko had minimal service and mustered only two shots on target, with another three blocked by Grimsby defenders.

Looking ahead, United will be back in Premier League action this weekend when they take on Burnley at Old Trafford on Saturday afternoon.
