Man Utd Player Rejected Last-Ditch Move to Bayern Munich as Shock Bid Revealed

Manchester United were busy on transfer deadline day.

One Manchester United player rejected a late bid from Bayern Munich before leaving on transfer deadline day.

It has been a busy summer at Old Trafford as they look to provide Ruben Amorim with a squad good enough to challenge for silverware.

United spent big to bring in players such as Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo, Benjamin Sesko, Diego Leon and Senne Lammens.

Meanwhile, the likes of Antony, Rasmus Hojlund, Victor Lindelof, Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho and Alejandro Garnacho all departed.

Brazilian winger Antony left United on a permanent deal as he made a return to Spanish La Liga side Real Betis, for a reported fee of €22 million.

The 25-year-old leaves Old Trafford after a disappointing spell that ended with just 12 goals in 92 appearances across all competitions.

Speaking after returning to Betis, Antony revealed that he rejected a move to German Bundesliga champions Bayern.

As reported by The Metro, the Brazilian held talks with Bayern but opted to join Betis after giving them his word.

Antony said to Cadena COPE: "I spoke with Bayern, I don’t know if it [the salary offer] was €7 million, but I said I had Betis’ word and that it was 95 per cent closed and that I would respect my word.

"I feel calm about making this decision because I am very happy here. More than five teams called me."

He added: "What happened today will mark my life, it was very emotional, and I’ve never experienced anything like that before. My family is very happy, it’s very hard to be away from them, and it’s been very hard being alone in a hotel for more than 40 days.

"My wife was in Seville waiting, so I told her my first choice was Betis. Being a Betis player means a lot to me. I like everything here. It’s very similar to Brazil: the people, the weather, the food… I really like paella."

Antony spent the second half of the 24/25 season on loan at Betis, where he managed nine goals in 26 matches, helping them reach the final of the UEFA Conference League, which they unfortunately lost to Premier League giants Chelsea.
