Arsene Wenger has said "something is going on" at Manchester United after Michael Carrick led the Red Devils to an impressive win over his former club Arsenal.
Following the sacking of Ruben Amorim, former United midfielder Carrick took charge on a caretaker basis and has already had a monumental impact on the team and the mood around the club.
He kicked off his reign with a brilliant 2-0 win over rivals Manchester City in the derby last week, the energetic performance encouraging former United captain Gary Neville after months of dross under Amorim.
United dominated City at Old Trafford but the second test for Carrick was against the Premier League leaders, who had not lost at the Emirates since May.

However they proved that the City display was not a one-off, beating Arsenal 3-2 with another well-executed game-plan.

United came from behind after Lisandro Martinez put through his own net, with Bryan Mbeumo and Patrick Dorgu following up their strikes last week - the latter smashing a stunning effort in off the crossbar to put the visitors 2-1 up.
Mikel Merino levelled matters for the hosts from a corner but United responded with a fine, flowing move that was finished with a wonderful curling strike from substitute Matheus Cunha for the winner.
United look transformed and Wenger, Arsenal's greatest ever manager, was impressed by the way in which Carrick's team picked up a first Premier League win at the Emirates in eight years.
The Frenchman, who works as FIFA's Chief of Global Football Development, believes United brought unprecedented problems for Arsenal through their approach.
"I think there is something going on in this Man United team between the way they beat Man City and the way they beat Arsenal today," Wenger said on beIN Sports.
"The way they played was very convincing and as well, when Arsenal came back to 2-2 usually it's the home team who wins the game.
'"United] found again the resources to score the third goal and to win 3-2 away from home in a top game, I have to congratulate Carrick. He has created something."
He added: "They believe that Carrick has found a good formula that is a good balance between defensive stability and a good technical level.
"It's the first time I felt the [Arsenal] centre backs were a bit more nervous and less dominant than usually in the games."

Arsenal are still four points clear of both City and Aston Villa after 23 games played but Wenger spotted issues in the Gunner's latest showing, stating they the lacked "patience and technical cohesion".
They are back in action on Wednesday when they host Kazakhstan outfit Kairat in the final matchday in the Champions League league phase, before travelling to Leeds United on Saturday.
United, meanwhile, take on Fulham on Sunday as Carrick looks to make it three wins from three.
