Amad Diallo deactivates his social media accounts after removing Man Utd pictures and explains why

Amad Diallo caused a stir as he deactivated his social media accounts.

Amad Diallo has explained why he has removed all his Manchester United pictures on social media.

Diallo shone on loan at Sunderland in the Championship last season, scoring an impressive 13 league goals in 37 appearances.

He looked set to challenge for a spot in the first-team this season.

But Diallo has played just three matches since returning to Man United, including two Premier League appearances.

The winger was an unused substitute in his side's 2-0 win over Everton last weekend.

On Monday, Diallo deleted all Man United-related posts on his Instagram account.

But the 21-year-old has explained his social media activity, revealing he has removed them to focus on Ramadan.

On Snapchat, he wrote: "I deactivated my social media for a month just to focus on Ramadan, it's a holy month for me and social media is a place where there are bad things to see during fasting.

"Stop the hatred, there's nothing wrong with that I did."

Diallo had suffered a serious injury in pre-season and made his return to action in December.

Speaking last month, Erik ten Hag admitted that Antony 'hasn't shown his big potential' at Old Trafford while opening the door for Diallo to take his spot.

"He has to prove a point, that he will do. And he has big potential. He hasn’t shown it lately, but I know what his talent is, and it’s about proving his talent, and it’s about him. And, yeah, he will probably get his opportunities, right? But, yeah, I think that was always the idea," he said.

"You have competition, and now he has to show himself on the training pitch, but also others because we have opportunities there. With [Amad] Diallo returning from an injury, he’s doing well in the training.

"Omari Forson is doing well. So, we have options to fill in those positions. And it’s not set that Marcus Rashford has to play as a centre forward."
