Saudi Pro League side Al Hilal are preparing a deal for another Premier League star should their ideal move for Bruno Fernandes fall through.

After what has been Manchester United's worst Premier League season since the competition started back in 1992, several of the club's top players have been linked with transfers.

Although the likes of Alejandro Garnacho and Marcus Rashford will likely not be seen as big losses to Ruben Amorim, if captain Fernandes were to move away it would undoubtedly be a huge blow.

The Portuguese international has recently been linked with a move to Saudi Pro League club Al Hilal, who are believed to be ready to offer a breathtaking transfer fee and contract to secure the deal.

But, with Fernandes believed to be eager to stay at Old Trafford for the foreseeable future, it has now been reported that Al Hilal are considering a back up option, and it's not good news for Aston Villa.

Since his arrival at Villa Park at the beginning of the season, Amadou Onana has established himself as one of the most impressive midfielders in the Premier League this season, playing a key role in Villa's battle for a spot in European football.

But, according to a report from Belgian journalist Sacha Tavolieri, his recent performances aren't all good news for Villa, as they have attracted interest from Al Hilal who have made an enquiry about a summer transfer.

The report states that the Saudi Arabian club are considering the 23-year-old as a potential transfer this summer, and have asked Villa if they would be open to facilitating a move.

Onana has reportedly made it clear that he would not be against joining Al Hilal, but talks so far have not progressed further than the early stages, and Villa are yet to receive a formal offer.

After missing out on the 2024/25 Saudi Pro League title by just eight points, Al Hilal are expected to be big players in the summer transfer market, with several top players linked with a move.

Although Fernandes remains their top target, they are believed to be considering moves for players throughout Europe's top divisions.

According to Sky Sports, the Saudi club are prepared to offer United £100million for Fernandes and will almost treble the 30-year-old's £250,000-a-week wages should he join.
