Police have reportedly arrested and charged a Manchester United fan following an alleged incident involving Jack Grealish after the Manchester derby.

The match at Old Trafford finished 0-0 on Sunday, with neither side providing major amounts of attacking threat.

Grealish entered the action as a substitute in the 74th minute, replacing Ilkay Gundogan.

As he was walking back towards the tunnel following the full-time whistle, it is then alleged that a United fan 'slapped' Grealish, as per the Daily Mail.

It is said that the City attacker is not thought to be seriously injured.

Greater Manchester Police, in a statement to the same outlet, have said that a fan has been charged with assault following an incident at Old Trafford on Sunday.

The statement reads: "Alfie Holt, 20, of Haven Drive, Droylsden, has been charged with assault. He will appear at Manchester Magistrates Court.

"This charge relates to an incident which took place at Old Trafford Football Club yesterday."

United and City, meanwhile, declined to comment on what is a live investigation.

SPORTbible have contacted Greater Manchester Police for further comment.

The incident followed an explicit chant from United fans directed at City star Phil Foden after he was substituted.

The chant, which referenced Foden's mother, was condemned by City boss Pep Guardiola in his post-match press conference.

Guardiola stated that the supporters involved showed a 'lack of class', adding: "It's not United, it's the people, you know?

"We are so exposed in the screen in world football - managers, owners, and football players especially.

"Honestly, I don't understand the mind of the people involving the mum of Phil. It's a lack of integrity, class, and they should be ashamed.

"But it is what it is. It's happening everywhere. Not just in the UK, everywhere."

According to the Daily Mail's Chris Wheeler, the FA are 'aware' of the chants and have condemned them, but will not take action against United as they do not represent a breach of regulations.
