The FA have made a 'decision' on whether to punish Manchester United for the vile chants about Manchester City's Phil Foden.

Man United and Man City played out a drab goalless draw at Old Trafford on Sunday.

The Premier League fixture was marred by the abuse aimed at Foden, who was subjected to cruel taunts from the home crowd.

After the game, Pep Guardiola condemned Man United supporters who made derogatory chants about Foden's mother, saying they should be 'ashamed' of themselves.

"Lack of class," he exclaimed. "But it's not United, it's the people, you know? We are so exposed in the screen in world football - managers, owners, and football players especially.

"Honestly, I don't understand the mind of the people involving the mum of Phil, it's a lack of integrity, class, and they should be ashamed..."

Troy Deeney delivered an interesting take on the incident as Foden broke his silence with a message on social media.

The FA are aware of the chants made during Sunday's showdown and condemn them, according to journalist Chris Wheeler.

However, they won't take any action against Man United because they don't 'breach regulations'.

Foden was replaced in the second-half as he appeared to sustain an injury.

Guardiola spoke at length about Foden during his post-match press conference.

"When the team is not playing the level and standards we had, everyone looks not what we were," he explained.

"Phil, there is no doubt; I see every training the passion, the smile on his face. This is what I want... Of course, the impact has not been, but not [just] Phil. If you see the numbers in the last four, five, six years, many players are here in terms of goals and assists, this season we dropped incredibly, all of them, not just one, ALL of them. That's why we're struggling to create or win, but the quality is there.

"Sometimes in a long career you have seasons you are not - maybe last season he arrived at the peak in terms of the best player in the Premier League, he won the Premier League in the last games and his impact was incredible - and he will be back."

The 24-year-old has been unable to hit the same goal-scoring heights as last season, having bagged 10 goals across all competitions this campaign.

He scored 27 goals last season.
