Where four Man City players would go if handed 'record-breaking' points deduction

Some of Manchester City's best players could be on the move if they are found guilty.

Here's where the likes of Erling Haaland and Phil Foden would go if Manchester City were handed a massive points deduction.

Man City have 115 charges against them for alleged Premier League financial rule breaches.

Over three years have passed since the league announced it was charging the Blues for breaching a series of rules related to alleged wrongdoing over a nine-year period between 2009 and 2018.

If found guilty, Man City, who have consistently denied financial wrongdoing, face a range of sanctions from the league, including expulsion from England's top flight or being stripped of titles.

Football finance expert Kieran Maguire, however, has suggested a record points deduction, predicting Pep Guardiola's side could be docked a huge 60 points.

If Man City were to be handed a 60-point deduction, then the club could experience a fire sale, with some of their top players wanting to leave.

Who could potentially explore an exit from the Etihad if Man City were found guilty? Well, SPORTbible take a look at four players who could leave and where they could end up.

Erling Haaland

Erling Haaland is arguably Man City's biggest star given his ultra-prolific form in front of goal since he joined the club from Borussia Dortmund.

Even though Haaland has a contract running till 2034, he has been linked with a move to Barcelona and Real Madrid, who both believe his deal contains a release clause which may allow him to play in La Liga at some point in the future.

We could see easily that move coming to fruition. The Norwegian would serve as a long-term replacement for Robert Lewandowski at Barca or partner Kylian Mbappe at Real.

Phil Foden

The thought of Phil Foden playing for another club other than Man City is a strange one given he has played his whole professional career with his boyhood club after coming through their youth academy.

We see him signing for another English side and reuniting with Mikel Arteta at Arsenal following the time they spent together at Man City. It's a transfer that has already been talked about.

Rodri

Similar to Haaland, Rodri's name has always been closely associated with Real in the rumour mill following his impressive performances for Man City, which culminated in Ballon d'Or glory in 2024.

A move to the Bernabeu would finally be realised and the Spanish giants would finally land their Toni Kroos successor.

Gianluigi Donnarumma

Gianluigi Donnarumma is only in his first season at Man City but a switch would be on the cards if Man City were found guilty.

Despite his status as one of the best stoppers in world football, we'd back him to leave Europe for the Middle East to bag a huge package from a Saudi Pro League side.
