The moment Pep Guardiola decided to bring Kevin De Bruyne off against Liverpool has been 'spotted' by supporters.

On Sunday, Manchester City survived a second-half barrage from Liverpool to claim a 1-1 draw at Anfield.

John Stones finished off a well-worked first-half corner routine to put City ahead, only for Alexis Mac Allister to level from the penalty spot early in the second period.

The game, which was billed as the final Premier League encounter between Jurgen Klopp and Guardiola, saw Luis Diaz miss several chances to win the game and Jeremy Doku survive a stoppage-time VAR check for a penalty after a high-boot on Mac Allister.

The pulsating contest also saw City talisman De Bruyne angrily remonstrating with Guardiola after being substituted for Mateo Kovacic in the second half.

And Liverpool fans have labelled an incident in the second half when De Bruyne reacted to being dispossessed by Wataru Endo as the moment Guardiola decided to substitute the Belgian.

De Brunye is seen looking frustrated and throwing his hands in the air after being tackled by the Japan international.

After the game, Guardiola said that it was “good” that De Bruyne was annoyed at being substituted.

Speaking to Sky Sports, the Spaniard said: "That's good.

“Have a chance next game to prove it. We need a player who keeps the ball. It's not about pressing. [Mateo] Kovacic is really good at that.

“We were happy with Kevin. It's not a problem. We're fine."

He added: "I know how difficult it is at Anfield.

“It is difficult at Etihad too, Liverpool have not won there in eight years. We prove, both sides, that we are incredible competitors. I would prefer a win but they prove for many years the quality they have. It was good from everyone."

On his relationship with Klopp, Guardiola continued: "We wouldn't need a hug to show that [respect]. He defends his club, I defend mine. Our history speaks for itself. We still have 10 games to go, many things can happen."
