Pep Guardiola makes huge claim about Man City's 115 charges and rival fans won't be happy

Pep Guardiola makes huge claim about Man City's 115 charges and rival fans won't be happy

The City boss has made a big statement on the club's 115 FFP charges.

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has spoken out about the club's 115 financial fair play charges just one day after signing a two-year extension on his deal.

After a two week international break, the Premier League is back in action on Saturday with several exciting clashes including a match between defending champions City and Tottenham Hotspur.

Just days before the match, City fans were treated to the news that legendary manager Guardiola had signed a new deal with the club, extending his stay there until the summer of 2027.

Having signed the new deal, Guardiola has now spoken out again about City's 115 charges regarding breaches of the Premier League's FFP rules, and his comments are not going to sit well with rival fans.

At the start of the season, the Catalan manager claimed that he would stand by the club even if they were found guilty of the 115 charges and relegated to a lower tier of the English football ladder.

And now, much to the dismay of rivals hoping he would leave City in the near future, he has doubled down on his promise.

Speaking ahed of City's clash with Tottenham this weekend, Guardiola said: "I said six months ago, when all the clubs accused us of doing something wrong, [and was asked] what happened if we are relegated. I will be here.

"Next year, if we are in the Conference we will come up to the Premier League. I knew it then and I feel it now.

"I signed a two-year contract... for the weather! I don't want next season in September, October or November for it to be all about, "It's the last year of Pep'. I don't want to be in that position."

However, the five-time Premier League winner admitted that if results for City turned for the worst, then he would consider leaving the club and pursuing a career elsewhere.

"I would like to stay for the two years but I know if the results are not good it will not be two years," added Guardiola.

So far in the 2024/25 Premier League season, City have struggled to match the standard set by themselves in previous seasons, as they continue to miss midfield star Rodri who suffered a season-ending injury in September.
