In the aftermath of Saturday's FA Cup final, eagle-eyed fans were quick to react when a Manchester City player 'liked' Alejandro Garnacho's Instagram post from the Wembley dressing room.

Garnacho, who has been one of Manchester United's standout performers this season, opened the scoring by pouncing on a mix-up between Josko Gvardiol and Stefan Ortega.

Shortly after becoming the first teenager to score for United in an FA Cup final since Cristiano Ronaldo in 2004, the winger was involved again as Kobbie Mainoo doubled their lead with a neat finish.

Jeremy Doku gave City a glimmer of hope when his long-range effort squeezed past Andre Onana, but United stumbled over the line to win their 13th FA Cup trophy.

After the full-time whistle, Garnacho celebrated by posting two pictures from the United dressing room to his Instagram page.

One involved goalscorer and Player of the Match winner Kobbie Mainoo, while the other featured him holding a winners' medal alongside the caption: "Year ago I promised you to bring it home."

More than 2.1 million people 'liked' the Instagram post, including Manchester City midfielder Phil Foden, who was recently named the Premier League Player of the Season.

Garnacho, who scored 10 goals in all competitions for United this season, described the victory over Manchester City as a dream come true.

"It is an incredible win," he told the BBC. "Nobody believed in us but this day with these fans is an incredible moment for us.

"We fought like it was the last game of our lives and we are very happy. The fans are incredible and we have to say thank you to them. Whether we lose or win they are always there, home games or away games and Wembley now.

"Kobbie is the best player in the squad and he's also the youngest. What a player and we are also very good friends so I'm very happy for him."

Mainoo also opened up on the win, saying it meant "everything" after a tough season.

"It's so big to win it back after last year," he said. "I was in the stands watching then. It's incredible. We knew we had to come together and the staff and players this week have been amazing.

"The preparation has been spot on. We've shown we can compete and we can win games, it's such a big win on such a big stage. It's been an incredible week after being picked in the Euro 2024 squad but right now I just want to concentrate on this, I can't look too far ahead."
