Man City fans absolutely convinced they got 'scammed' after drawing with Newcastle

Manchester City fans made their feelings clear following their result against Newcastle United.

Manchester City fans are convinced they got 'scammed' following their draw with Newcastle United on Saturday.

Man City dropped points again as they were held to a 1-1 draw at Newcastle.

That's despite taking the lead through Josko Gvardiol, who popped up in the box to find the back of the net.

In the second-half, though, Anthony Gordon levelled from the spot after winning a penalty.

Man City didn't have the cutting edge up front as fans came up with a theory as to why Phil Foden isn't starting this season.

Ilkay Gundogan started ahead of Foden and Man City supporters believe he's well off the pace since returning to the club this summer.

Gundogan left the Etihad after helping them to a treble-winning campaign but returned after just one season at Barcelona.

However, some Man City fans on social media think they have been 'scammed' even though they got him on a free transfer.

One X user exclaimed: "We got Gundogan for free and still got scammed."

A second said: "Gundogan’s looked really off since joining City."

A third argued: "The abuse Gundogan is getting online is sickening from so called city fans."

A fourth commented: "The fact that Foden is on the bench for Gundogan is abysmal."

Another added: "When KDB comes back, he’ll come in for Gundogan. Yes, it’s that simple."

The German midfielder has started his side's last three league matches but was deployed in a more attacking position against Newcastle.

By his high standards, he was unable to dictate play and was eventually replaced in the second-half.

The Blues, who have 14 points on the board, resume their league campaign next Saturday when they host Fulham.

It remains to be seen whether Gundogan will keep his place in the starting XI for their next league fixture.
