A journalist has claimed that Manchester City would be hit with a significant points deduction for breaching the Premier League's financial fair play rules.
Back in February 2023, the Premier League charged City with breaking FFP rules on 115 occasions over a nine-year period, with 54 of those relating to a failure to provide up-to-date financial information.
City were establishing themselves as one of Europe's top competitors during that period, which started in 2009 and went on until 2018, spending around €1.44bn on new players, according to figures from Transfermarkt.
They also lifted the Premier League title on three occasions in 2012, 2014 and 2018.

Since the charges were brought against them, the Manchester-based club have strenuously denied any wrongdoing, claiming they have a "body of irrefutable evidence" that has been provided as part of their defence.

City's hearing in the case against the Premier League ran across a 12-week period between September and December 2024, with suggestions that a timeframe between the hearing and the judgment would take months given the sheer volume of information involved.
However, City are still awaiting the outcome of their 115 charges case, with conflicting reports emerging about when a judgment will be declared.
This week, Colombian journalist and broadcaster Cesar Augusto Londono suggested an official announcement of the punishment will be made before the end of the 2025-26 campaign.
Londono, who has 1 million followers on X, also made some bold claims about Man City's Premier League status.
"Manchester City would be sanctioned with a deduction of 60 points for 115 breaches of Financial Fair Play," he wrote in a post that has over 420,000 views on X, formerly Twitter.
"The official announcement of the punishment will be made before the end of the season. This sanction would take the club to the last place in the Premier League and it would be condemned to relegation."

City currently sit second in the Premier League on 61 points.
Keith Wyness, who has previously worked in executive roles at Everton and Aston Villa, recently said that a 60-point deduction would “make sense” after finance expert Kieran Maguire claimed City could be deducted between 40 and 60 points.
“We’re all just guessing at this moment. There’s no doubt about it. Look, it is the sort of penalty I would think if they were found guilty. I think 60 points would make sense," he told Football Insider.
“And I think it could be something that City could accept if they were found guilty. But of course there’ll be an appeal anyway. So if it was 60 points, that’ll probably be reduced as well.”
