Virgil van Dijk was left stunned after an interviewer revealed that he once played against him in the Champions League.
On Tuesday night, Van Dijk started at the heart of the Liverpool defence as they hosted Real Madrid at Anfield in the UEFA Champions League.
During what was a cagey affair, Alexis Mac Allister's 61st-minute header proved to be the winner as Liverpool secured a 1-0 victory.
As a result, Arne Slot's men moved up to sixth place in the Champions League table with nine points, having also won against the likes of Atletico Madrid and Eintracht Frankfurt.

Meanwhile, Madrid remain one place above Liverpool due to their superior goal difference.
After the match, during a post-match interview, Van Dijk ended up having an unexpected reunion with one of his former opponents.

As it turned out, the interviewer asking Van Dijk questions was ex-forward Michal Zyro.

Back in 2014, Zyro of Legia Warsaw took on Van Dijk, who was playing for Celtic at the time, twice in a Champions League qualifier.
Legia won the first match 4-1 before beating Celtic 2-0 in the second leg, with Zyro registering one goal and one assist.
However, Celtic ended up going through as Legia were thrown out after playing an unregistered player in the return leg in Scotland.
Two years later, Zyro moved to Wolverhampton Wanderers before leaving the Molineux in 2019.

Zyro was sadly forced to retire at the age of just 32 due to multiple injury problems.
Speaking to Van Dijk, Zyro said: "I’m really happy to see you," to which the Dutchman replied: "So you scored two goals back then and now you interview me."
Zyro then said: "Yeah, because I joined Wolverhampton for the next two to three years and I got really bad injury there by the knee.”

Van Dijk said: "Sorry to hear."
In response, Zyro stated: "But I really enjoy being here and it’s really special to speak with you."
After Van Dijk said: "As long as you are happy that’s the most important thing. So keep doing what you’re doing," the pair shared a warm embrace.
Looking ahead, Van Dijk and Liverpool will be back in Premier League action this weekend when they take on Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
