Virgil van Dijk and Andre Onana were involved in an incident during Liverpool's 3-0 win at Manchester United, footage shows.

Liverpool beat their rivals comfortably Old Trafford, with Luis Diaz bagging a brace and Mo Salah finding the net for the 15th time against United.

Following consecutive losses to Brighton and Liverpool, Erik ten Hag's men now find themselves 14th in the league after taking just three points from three games.

The game featured many forgettable moments from a United perspective, including Casemiro giving the ball away cheaply for two goals and Marcus Rashford prompting groans when he took the safe option and passed the ball backwards.

But there was also a lesser known exchange between Van Dijk and Onana, which viewers may have missed.

The Liverpool skipper stood right on the Cameroonian on corners, with Diogo Dalot having the task of keeping him away.

But Onana took it upon himself to thwart Van Dijk, forcefully elbowing him in the stomach.

The former Southampton defender probably had grounds to make a meal of it but he did so playfully, mocking Onana as if he had hurt him.

Onana then appeared to have words with Van Dijk, who had a big smile on his face - something which was still there at the end of the game when Liverpool celebrated another win under Arne Slot.

Van Dijk was also had another interaction with a United star when he got into it with defender Lisandro Martinez.

Not long after the opener, the Argentine recklessly clattered into Dominik Szoboszlai in a challenge of pure frustration.

A yellow card was shown as the Hungarian lay in the turf in a heap, but Van Dijk charged over to give Martinez some grief.

Though Anthony Taylor tried to keep him away, Van Dijk appeared to tell Martinez, "Come try that with me.".
