Spanish media have dropped a fresh update on Trent Alexander-Arnold's potential move from Liverpool to Real Madrid.

Alexander-Arnold's contract expires at the end of the season, along with Liverpool team-mates Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah.

The 25-year-old has yet to publicly comment on transfer rumours linking him with a move to Real Madrid - though that hasn't stopped rumours from circulating.

Several Spanish media outlets have reported that Real are examining a January transfer for the England international.

After Los Blancos' shock 3-1 defeat to AC Milan in the Champions League, it was revealed by Marca that Real were exploring Alexander-Arnold's signing as an 'urgent priority' to save the rest of their season.

Any possibility of a January move for the defender was denied by The Athletic's James Pearce - and a fresh update may prove key to the saga.

According to Spanish outlet Relevo - who reported on Liverpool's signing of Giorgi Mamardashvili and unsuccessful pursuit of Martin Zubimendi in the summer - Real have turned their attentions away from Alexander-Arnold.

They are now focusing on the signing of Tottenham right-back Pedro Porro instead, with Alexander-Arnold said to be not considered 'strategic and essential' by Real bosses.

It is even claimed that, if the Englishman is signed, Porro would still be a name 'on the agenda' at the Bernabeu.

Relevo were the first Spanish outlet to report on both the Mamardashvili and Zubimendi pursuits, and are also a reliable news source in Madrid.

In a departure from past seasons, Real are likely to dip into the transfer market in January due to the sheer number of injuries in their squad.

Daniel Carvajal will miss the rest of the season with an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury suffered last month, though priority appears to have switched towards the centre-back position.

David Alaba is recovering from his own ACL injury that has seen him miss the entirety of 2024 to date, while Eder Militao suffered a suspected ACL injury in Real's 4-0 win over Osasuna on Saturday.

It is claimed that Real's top target is former Manchester City centre-back Aymeric Laporte, who now plays for Saudi Pro League side Al Nassr and is team-mates with Cristiano Ronaldo.
