Liverpool's plans for the summer transfer market have taken a turn as one player looking to force their dream move has been dealt a major blow.

With it looking increasingly likely that Liverpool will claim the 2024/25 Premier League title in Arne Slot's first season at the club, Reds fans have already started dreaming of the upcoming transfer window.

Of course, the main focus will be over the potential incomings, with the likes of Newcastle striker Alexander Isak and Bournemouth defender Milos Kerkez just two of the names linked with a move to Anfield.

However, several reports have claimed that there will be some major departures at Liverpool this summer, but one of the big players linked with a move away has now been dealt a huge blow.

When the transfer window reopens in June, Liverpool fans can expect a major shakeup in their attack, with players like Darwin Nunez, Diogo Jota and Luis Diaz all linked with moves away to facilitate bids for Isak or other forwards.

Of the three Liverpool attackers, Diaz appeared to be the most likely to depart after reports claimed that he would be willing to force a transfer to dream club Barcelona if they were to submit a bid for him.

But now, Diaz's hopes of joining the La Liga giants have been seriously dented as a report from Catalan newspaper El Nacional, via Marca, has claimed that Barcelona see his age as a potential roadblock to a transfer.

The report states that Barcelona manager Hansi Flick has set a clear transfer policy at the club that will see them prioritiser putting together a young and renewed squad.

Unfortunately for Diaz, the German boss doesn't believe that, at 28-years-old, the winger fits this criteria and therefore, he would rather prioritise moves for younger players like Athletic Club's Nico Williams or Ademola Lookman of Atalanta.

Matters get worse for the Colombian as it is believed that Liverpool have set an asking price of asking price of over €75million (£62.6.m), a fee that is viewed as too much for a player that has been labelled as non-essential.
