Forgotten Liverpool player is now worth 11 times as much as this time last year despite not playing for months

He's barely played this season.

A forgotten Liverpool starlet is now worth 11 times as much as this time last year despite him hardly playing for Jurgen Klopp's side this season.

Liverpool have enjoyed a strong start to the Premier League season, impressively so given the personnel changes that happened over the summer.

Following the departures of Fabinho, Naby Keita, Jordan Henderson and Roberto Firmino, Klopp had to go about reconfiguring his side's midfield and attack.

Alexis Mac Allister, Dominic Szoboszlai, Ryan Gravenberch and Wataru Endo came into the midfield and have adapted well to their new surroundings, helping Liverpool to begin 2024 top of the Premier League table.

It looked like the exodus of talent over the summer would create the perfect opportunity for one youngster to really push on and become a star at Anfield.

Stefan Bajcetic enjoyed something of a breakthrough earlier in 2023, when he featured in eight consecutive Premier League games between January 21 to March 11. That run ended abruptly when he suffered an adductor injury, and the 19-year-old Spaniard has barely been seen since.

However, despite his prolonged absence, Bajcetic's value has increased massively over the past year. According to Transfermarkt, the youngster is now worth €11 million (£9.5 million) compared to €1 million (£860,000) at the start of 2023.

The midfielder joined Liverpool's youth setup from La Liga side Celta Vigo in 2021, and made his first team debut in August 2022 as Liverpool demolished Bournemouth 9-0.

Bajcetic has featured twice for Klopp's side this term, once in the Carabao Cup and once in the Europa League. He has missed the last 22 games with a calf issue.

The good news for Bajcetic and Liverpool fans is that the teenager should soon be back in action. This week assistant manager Pep Lijnders said that he and fellow midfielder Thiago Alcantara should return to training in February, just in time for the return of the Europa League and the business end of the campaign.
