Mo Salah's farewell message to Luis Diaz prompted the same observation from a whole host of Liverpool supporters.

Mo Salah sent a farewell message to Luis Diaz on Friday morning but fans picked up on a major difference from his post when Trent Alexander-Arnold moved on to Real Madrid.

Diaz became the fourth significant departure from the Premier League champions, following on from Alexander-Arnold joining Real in June, Jarell Quansah moving to Bayer Leverkusen and Caoimhin Kelleher signing for Brentford.

The Colombian expressed a desire to leave the Reds and completed a £65 million move to Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich, signing a four-year deal.

Diaz joined in January 2022 and played 148 times for Liverpool, scoring 41 times and winning four major trophies on Merseyside.

Salah was sad to see him go and posted a lengthy statement about Diaz, hailing his "passion" and "strength" in tough times while stating that it was an "honour" to play alongside him.

"Your energy, drive, and passion on the pitch have left a mark that won’t be forgotten," Salah wrote on X, accompanied by four images of he and Diaz.

"We were truly lucky to have you at Liverpool, and it’s been an honour to share part of your journey and success story.

"As a teammate, you were more than reliable — you were inspiring. As a friend, even more so.

"We all saw the strength it took to keep going through the tough times off the pitch. What you went through would’ve broken most, but you came back strong and gave everything for the club. That kind of resilience sets an example for others and earns nothing but respect.

"Wishing you all the best for what’s next, Lucho. Siga haciendo orgullosa a su gente."

Salah's message to Trent Alexander-Arnold

Earlier this summer, Salah shared a farewell message for Alexander-Arnold in May when his departure was confirmed - commenting: "It’s been a pleasure sharing a special friendship with you and playing alongside you. I wish you the best and I am sure we will meet again. @TrentAA."

In comparing the two, fans noticed the one for Diaz was much longer and more in depth.

One fan replied: "Spot the difference."

A second wrote: "Where is Trent’s post? Nah I’m super disappointed in you and will be blocking you now."

A third added: "He didn’t even do this for Trent who literally carried him for the better part of 6 years."

Another commented: "Smart for not giving Trent a post like this."

Diaz left on good terms and with the well wishes of manager Arne Slot, who said he "always had a smile on his face no matter what".

However, the former Porto forward did irk Liverpool fans with one comment made at his Bayern unveiling after he spoke of wanting to join a "big, ambitious club".

In a press conference, Diaz said: "I've decided to join Bayern because it's a club that fits with my goals. My expectations are very big, so I wanted to join a big, ambitious club."
