A current Liverpool player once described Eden Hazard as “the one” when asked to compare the now-retired ex-Chelsea winger to Mohamed Salah.
The Hazard-Salah debate is one of many historical Premier League topics that fans often go back and forth about.
There’s no doubting the impact both players have had – and Salah continues to have – on Chelsea and Liverpool.
Hazard was known for his magical dribbling, which helped the London club win six trophies - two Premier League titles, two Europa League titles, one FA Cup, and one League Cup – during the winger’s time at Stamford Bridge.

In all, the Belgian registered 110 goals and 88 assists in 352 appearances for Chelsea before transferring to Real Madrid in 2019.
However, his four-year spell in the Spanish capital did not live up to expectations as Hazard struggled with several injuries and fitness issues before hanging up his boots at the age of 32 in 2023.
Meanwhile, a then-32-year-old Salah helped Liverpool win the Premier League in 2024/25 and picked up the Professional Footballers’ Association’s player of the year award for his efforts.

The Egyptian, now 33, is still a regular starter and one of the main men in Arne Slot’s side.
And there’s no question that Salah’s fitness and longevity are two of his biggest assets, while the aforementioned characteristics were arguably flaws in Hazard’s game.
Nonetheless, the 34-year-old’s impact on English football will be remembered for years to come and, still, there’s no correct answer to the age-old debate.
Speaking to SPORTbible in 2024, Hazard himself claimed that Salah is a better player “by far”.

And you’d expect Chelsea fans to say Hazard, with Liverpool supporters likely to go for Salah, but this was not the case when Reds midfielder Curtis Jones addressed the debate during an interview with TNT Sports.
"I know this might go a little bit left with our fans because the comparison is always there, but Hazard is the one,” Jones said earlier this year.
"I know he's compared with Mo all the time, and I've been into it with Mo.

"From who I saw when I was a kid, when I loved the game and I was studying the game and wanted to be a player, I feel like Hazard was the one. Every game I'd watch him and I would just (say), wow, that's football."
The Liverpudlian added: "It's a talk I've had with Mo and all the lads. As a footballer, is he better than Mo? In my opinion, yes. But who would you rather have in your team? They're going to say Mo because he gets you your goals and assists."
And despite making his stance public, he later posted a snap with Salah to social media with the caption: “The one I’d rather have in my team”.
