Liverpool have reportedly already picked out their ideal for Mohamed Salah if he decides to leave this summer, and the star has been compared to Kylian Mbappe.

Since joining from Italian side AS Roma in June 2017, Salah has undoubtedly put his name into Liverpool's history books as one of the greatest to ever play for the club.

The Egyptian winger is currently locked in negotiations with the Merseyside for a new contract, with his current deal set to expire at the end of the 2024/25 season.

And with rumours circulating that the 32-year-old could be set to join another team this summer, Liverpool have lined up their ideal replacement for Salah should be leave over the summer, and the player is seriously impressive.

According to Get French Football News, Liverpool have enquired about a potential deal for highly-rated Lyon winger Rayan Cherki after he has enjoyed an impressive season for the French side.

The 21-year-old attracted interest from several club last summer as he was reportedly available for as little as €10million due to his contract expiring the following year.

Amongst the clubs to enquire about the Frenchman was Fulham, who he rejected and Paris Saint-Germain, who he also turned down as he believed a bid from Borussia Dortmund was imminent.

However, the German club never formalised their interest in Cherki, forcing him to stay at Lyon and sign a new deal which keeps him there until the summer of 2026.

Lyon are insistent that they want to keep Cherki at least until the end of the season, however, if he refuses another extension, a transfer would appear likely, with Liverpool emerging as one of the front runners.

And if they can pull a deal off to bring the youngster to Anfield, they may be bringing one of the most exciting talents in Europe to the Premier League, after the Frenchman has been compared to countryman Mbappe.

Throughout his career in Ligue 1, Cherki has been breaking records and putting in elite performances from the age of just 16, much like Mbappe.

Media hype surrounding the talent during the early days of his career led to Mbappe himself taking to social media to praise the star.

In 2020, Mbappe shared a post on Twitter/X showing off Cherki's impressive stats, alongside a caption reading: "You shouldn't talk to him too much about age, eh?"
